Echocardiography for pets is very similar to Echocardiography in humans. This procedure allows veterinarians to get a good picture of the valve function of the heart, and is often a second test after an Electrocardiogram (ECG).
If any cardiac abnormalities are noted during the ECG, we may recommend an Echocardiogram, or an ultrasound of the heart, in order to visualize the heart chambers and muscles to make a diagnosis.
